Abstract

Ketia (or ketiau) oil is the oil obtained from the kernel of the genus Madhuca and/or Ganua which can be found in the Parit region of Perak' At ambient temperature,the ketia oil is liquid with some cloudiness. It is a dirty, greenish brown in colour. Total saturated fatty acids in the oil is about 43 percent. The dominant fatty acid is oleic (49%) followed by palmitic acid (28V%),stearic acid (15%),linoleic acid( 8V%) and others.C52 triglyceride is the most abundant followed by C54 and C50 in decreasing order.
