Abstract

The chemical 'Yozuso' was studied using gas chromatography. UV spectrophotometry and growth analysis. The active ingredients of Yozuso were found to be a synthetic cytokinin, 6-BAP of no known deleterious effects. and a synthetic auxin (2,4-D) which is widely used in herbicides and has been reported to have carcinogenic effect. 6-8AP and 2,4-D contents were determined to average l4 000 mg/L and I 500 mg/l- respectively. Yozuso was shown to produce tauge with stems significantly twice as thick and roots significantly 6 7 times shorter than the control.
