Abstract

Thanatephorus cucumeris (Frank) Donk, the perfect state of Rhizoctonia solani Kuhn, was observed on a wetland rice crop (variety Seri Malaysia II) in Seberang Perai during the 1975 off-season. The white hymenia occurred on infected leaves of mature plants. Basidiospores germinated on agar medium to produce mycelia and sclerotia. This is believed to be the first report of the perfect state of the fungus on wetland rice in the tropics.
