Abstract

The sensitive period of paddy variety Jaya to yield loss caused by bacterial blight has been established to be between fifty days and eighty seven days after sowing, which falls between maximum tillering stage to booting stage. Within this period, the maximum disease severity of 74 - 95%, together with the maximum disease score of 6 - 8 have been recorded, and rice yields in terms of filled grain weight per hill and total yield were shown to reduce significantly. The reduction in rice yield was attributed to the development of more unfilled and undeveloped grains.
