Abstract
A chitin-protein product (Clandosan) was compared with isazofos (Miral 3G) and methyl bromide for the control of Meloidogyne incognita in the tobacco nursery. Rootknot infestation stunted all untreated plants and reduced leaf production as well as net yield of cured leaves. Leaf quality in terms of net grade index and crop index was, however, not affected. Of the three products tested, methyl bromide was the most effective as plants grown in fumigated soil were all free of infestation. Chitin-protein and isazofos were equally effective in reducing the number of root galls to a very low number.
