Abstract

Liberica coffee progenies were evaluated at MARDI Research Station in Kluang. Johor to identify progenitors for the production of high yielding and high quality polyhybrid seeds.S ignificant differences in green-bean yield, ranging from 0.23 to 2.20 t/ha per year with an overall average of 1.25 t/ha per year were obtained from the progenies evaluated. The 100-green-bean weight was also significantly different, rangingf rom 18.10 to 28.10g with an averageo f 23.69g . Four top progenitors were selected for the production of polyhybrid seeds. The progenitors were MCL 34, MCL 43, MCL 44 and MCL 46 respectively with progeny yields of 1.69, 1.98, 1 .71,2.20 t/ha per year; 100-green-bean weight of 27.37, 28.10, 27.07 arld 26.08 g, and conversion of fresh berry to green beans of 9.03-9.57%. Green bean quality of the selected progenies was also discussed.
