 Abstract

Canopy light relations of six local genotypes namelY. Y 745. Setanjung. Y 755 Seberang, Y 946 and MR 86 were studied in the Tg. Karang rice area in the off-season 1986. Marked variations in photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) transmission percentage with respect to variation in canopy shape were first observed after an early heading stage and continued there after. Major variation in PAR transmission was due to variation in the upper canopy structure. Canopy foliar absorption coefficient (k) of genotypes tested ranged between 0.19 to 0.79.
