Growth performance and carcass characteristics of various types of meat duck

Abstract

Ducks originated from United Kingdom and Australia which were multiplied locally were generally superior in growth performance. The carcass traits expressed as meat to bone ratio and percentage of skin and subcutaneous fat were in favour of Taiwan Muscovy cross slaughtered at 10 weeks old. The feeding value of broken rice-based diet was better than that of corn-based in terms of growth performance in ducks. However, higher percentage of skin and subcutaneous fat were obtained from ducks fed on broken rice-based diet.
