Abstract

The solar drier model SG -3600M was tested to dry salted fish (Slender shad/Ilisha elongata Ben.
Silver Jewfish/johnius Pseudosciaena soldado Lac.,\ and anchovy (Anchoviella commersonii Lac. ) using heated air of 40^oC, 45^oC and 50^o Celsius. Solar heat and combustion heat were used as energy sources. Drying costs (operational costs) for the capacity of 86 90 kg were M$0.30- M$I.00 per kg of water removed depending on size and drying temperature. Dried fish recovered after drying was influenced greatly by the final moisture content rather than other drying factors.
