Abstract

Cassava grown on virgin peat soil in Malaysia often suffers from Cu deficiency, the symptoms of which are described. The deficiency is most likely the result of low Cu content in peat (6ppm) and is corrected by the soil application of copper sulphate (2-10 kg/ha),increasing leaf Cu content from about 7 ppm (deficient) to about 14 ppm (normal).
