Abstract

The effects of N, P K and Mg fertilizers, on soil nutrient test levels in 14 oil plam fertilizer trials carried out in West Malaysia is reported. On inland soils, F.F.B. yields without N and K fertilizers were found to be significantly related to soil N and K tests respectively. However, critical soil test levels corresponding to optimal yields were found to be too variable to be of practical use. Thus only analysis of unfertilized soils is likely to aid the estimation of oil palm fertilizer requirements.
