SUMMARY
The effect of three forms of ammonium nitrogen fertilizers was studied in the Muda scheme area. lt was found that ammonium chioride and urea were equally effective and significantly superior to ammonium sulphate in increasing rice grain yield. The study on nitrogen fertilizer placement methods indicates that grain yield can be markedly increased by soil incorporation of the fertilizers. However, there are practical difficulties at farm level under flooded soil conditions to effectively incorporate the fertilizers into the soil.
