Abstract

Ten plant-parasitic nematode species including two root-knot nematode, namely Meloidogyne incognita and M. javanica, were found in association with tobacco in four districts in Kelantan. M. incognita from the tobacco was identified as physiological race 2, while no races were identified in M. javanica. More root-knot nematdes were found in Bachok than in Pasir Puteh, Pasir Mas or Tumpat. On the other hand, the rice-root nematode, Hirschmanniella mucronata, was more abundant and frequently found in the three districts than in Bachok.
